The website of the United States Department of Agriculture included the kingdom of Wakanda in the list of its trading partners. An error that has not gone unnoticed.
When the Marvel universe invites itself into our reality. On its website, the United States Department of Agriculture listed the kingdom of Wakanda, a fictional country in Ryan Coogler’s film Black Panther, as one of its trading partners. The anomaly was revealed this Wednesday, December 18 when Francis Tseng, a New York computer engineer, was researching the American platform. It was by scrolling down the list of countries that are part of the free trade agreement, between Colombia and Costa Rica, that the user came across this astonishing proposal, as evidenced by his shared screenshot on the social networks:
Even more unusual, the data on the site also includes the tariff codes for animals, tobacco, alcohol and even dairy products. This is, of course, an error. To explain the situation, a spokesperson for the American ministry expressed to AFP: “The personnel who deal with the tax simulator have carried out tests to make sure that it functions correctly. The Wakanda would have had to be removed from the list after the test. It is no longer online. ” However, information has already gone around the web, shared by thousands of amused people.
