1978, Canada. 560 kilometers south of the Arctic Circle is Dawson City. During work to build a recreation center, the operator of an excavator raises hundreds of miraculously preserved film reels from the earth. Combining silent films, newsreels, archival footage, interviews and historic photographs, and accompanied by a haunting soundtrack by Alex Somers, Dawson City: Time Suspended portrays the history of the Gold Rush of ‘a small Canadian town while relating the life cycle of a unique film collection through its exile, its burial, its rediscovery and its salvation.
