The return of the erotic thriller? Collider reveals that Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas will team up in Deep Water, an erotic thriller directed by Adrian Lyne. Accustomed to the genre with Fatal Liaison or 9 1/2 weeks, the director had no longer signed films since Unfaithful. Ana de Armas is no stranger to this style of film since she had already played in Knock Knock with Keanu Reeves.

Deep Water is based on the novel by Patricia Highsmith (The Talented Mr. Ripley) and begins with the couple formed by Victor and Melinda Van Allen who live a marriage without love. The couple decides to spice things up by allowing themselves to take other lovers. But things go wrong and their games degenerate: the people around them begin to die …

The adaptation is signed by Zach Helm (The incredible destiny of Harold Crick) and Sam Levinson, creator of the Euphoria series, known for its unvarnished representation of sexual relations. The erotic thriller knew its hour of glory during the 90s with the films of Lyne, but also Basic Instinct, Sex Crimes or the remake of the Diabolics with Sharon Stone.
