The film is adapted from the novel The Secret Garden by author Frances Hodgson Burnett, published in 1911. Frances Hodgson Burnett is considered to be one of the pioneers of children’s novels. We also owe her the novels Princess Sara: adventures of a little English schoolgirl (adapted in animated series) and The Little Lord Fauntleroy.
