On the death of her parents, the young Mary Lennox, a lonely child with an overflowing imagination, leaves India to join the British countryside. The film is adapted from the novel The Secret Garden by author Frances Hodgson Burnett, published in 1911. Frances Hodgson Burnett is considered to be one of the pioneers of children’s novels. We also owe her the novels Princess Sara: adventures of a little English schoolgirl (adapted in animated series) and The Little Lord Fauntleroy.

The wonderful garden imagined by Frances Hodgson Burnett in 1911 returns to the cinema! This youth novel by the famous British author – she is known for having written Princess Sara: adventures of a little English schoolgirl (in 1891) – has already been adapted several times in cinema and on television (the most famous version dates from 1994 and is signed Agnieszka Holland).

The story follows Mary, a little British girl who has just lost her parents. Forced to leave India where she lived, she joined the manor of her uncle in the middle of the English countryside. There she will meet her cousin Colin, a young boy named Dickon, the adorable dog Fozzie and an ingenious robin.
