Asteroid City is a tiny city in the middle of the desert in the southwestern United States. The year is 1955. The site is most famous for its gigantic meteorite crater and its nearby astronomical observatory. This weekend, the military and astronomers welcome five gifted children, distinguished for their scientific creations, so that they present their inventions. A few kilometers away, beyond the hills, we see atomic mushrooms caused by nuclear tests.
