Godzilla x Kong: The New Kingdom is the fifth installment in Legendary Pictures’ MonsterVerse, following Godzilla (2014), Kong: Skull Island (2017), Godzilla 2: King of the Monsters (2019) and Godzilla vs. Kong (2021).

Godzilla (2014) grossed $530 million worldwide for a budget of $160 million. Kong: Skull Island generated 561 million, Godzilla 2: King of the Monsters 383 million and Godzilla vs Kong 468 million (for budgets around 200 million).
Adam Wingard is the director of Godzilla x Kong: The New Kingdom. He is familiar with the franchise, having already been at the helm of Godzilla vs. Kong. Godzilla 2: King of the Monsters was, however, directed by Michael Dougherty, Kong: Skull Island by Jordan Vogt-Roberts and Godzilla by Gareth Edwards.
